It’s CSA time again! And it is most certainly tomato season in Kentucky. I really know nothing about tomatoes, but my goodness, there are so many varieties! Eric and I have just recently become tomato eaters, although I’m not sure I’ll ever reach the point where I can just eat a tomato by itself. But I can take it on a sandwich, or in salsa, which is where most of these tomatoes are headed!
This week’s basket brought us:
-cantaloupe
-long sweet red Italian “Jimmy Nardello” pepper
-green bell pepper
-lettuce
-onion
-eggplant
-chili peppers
-zucchini
-tomatoes: red and pink slicing hybrids, Old KY, Granny Cantrell, Red Zebra, and Green Zebra
We made our own salsa with some of the peppers, onion, and tomatoes. I’m considering attempting some zucchini brownies with our squash. And after a few salad-less weeks, I’m ready for a delightful salad with our lettuce!
Hooray for fresh food!
