Weekends go by way too quickly around here. I wake up every morning hoping that it is Saturday. But, 6 out of 7 times, that’s just not the case.
This past weekend was jam-packed with excitement.
Friday night was the first BCM event of the school year (I still cannot believe that I am no longer in school. What?). Now, I know that both Eric and I have graduated and are no longer students at the BCM, but it holds a big place in my heart, so I can’t resist going to see friends. This year, the BCM put on Friday Night Live, which was beyond hilarious. I seriously cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard. Or so loud. My apologies to all of those sitting around me.
Anywho, after staying up crazy late on Friday night (12:30! What?), we woke up early to go to Sunrise Bakery for breakfast and then hit up the farmer’s market. I’ve been craving fruit like wild lately, as that’s somewhat lacking from our bi-weekly CSA basket, so we went crazy and bought blueberries, raspberries, and a bazillion peaches. And by a ‘bazillion’, I mean 16. Still, 16 peaches is a lot. But I’m just thrilled to eat them every day. Several times a day. Thank you Lord, for peaches.
The most exciting event of the weekend was my sister moving to Lexington! Woo! After many, many years living in different cities, we’re finally going to live in the same place again! We spent many hours carrying her stuff up 3 flights of stairs (you’re welcome, Amanda). But I must say, her apartment is going to be super cute. If you didn’t know already, my sister is ridiculously crafty and seems to whip up a new craft every day. I don’t know how she does it. But I’m hoping that some of that craftiness will rub off on me.
After a day of moving, Eric and I took a quick trip back to Oldham County to say goodbye to his parents, who are moving to San Diego this week. It’s a big week of moving, as my parents are also moving this week! Crazy.
We came back to Lexington in time to go to church on Sunday morning. Afterwards, we hit up Joe B’s for lunch (thank you, Lord, for the 4-cheese pizza) before going to the Woodland Art Fair! Eric sat this one out, but Amanda and I happily perused the hundreds of craft booths. We only ended up purchasing one item from an actual art fair booth, but we did a bit more damage at the yard sale next to the fair. We each came away with a bench and two cabinet doors, all for only $7! I’m super pumped about the craft possibilities. As I said before, I’m hoping Amanda’s craftiness will rub off on me. I think I’ll sand the bench and repaint it so that it can sit in our entryway. As for the cabinet doors, I’m still thinking. Any suggestions? My actual art fair purchase was this super fun mirror, made out of two pretty plates.
After visiting the Woodland Art Fair, I must say that I wish I had some sort of marketable art skill. Is it too late to become an artist? When we were little, my mom had us fill out these little books at the beginning of every school year. We would record our height and weight and other random facts about ourselves, along with answering the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Apparently I went through a wide variety of phases as a child, as I remember listing “lawyer”, “mommy”, “singer”, and “artist.” I think we can eliminate “lawyer” from the list, as I avoid conflict at all costs. “Singer” can probably be tossed out the window as well (my apologies to those of you who have ever heard me sing. And my constant apologies to Eric, who will have to suffer through it for the rest of our lives. I will not stop singing along to every song I know in the car.). So we’ll see how the other options go.
Hope your week flies by and your weekend goes slow!
