Well, folks, it’s been two years (plus a couple of days, by the time I’m actually writing this) since we walked down the aisle. And what a wonderful two years it has been!
This year, we celebrated with a fancy dinner out on the town at Rosetta, a new place that opened up down the street from us. I’ve wanted to dine there since it opened a few months ago, and the wonderful Eric decided that we would eat there for our anniversary. And when I checked my e-mail on the morning of our date, there just happened to be a Pete’s Deal (the Lexington version of Groupon) for 50% off at Rosetta! It should be no surprise to most of you that we snatched up that coupon and celebrated with a discount date!
Rosetta was delicious, by the way. We got something really fancy as soon as we sat down, but neither of us can remember what it was called (clearly there’s a promising career as a food critic in my future). Anywho, whatever it was, it was small and elegantly plated, involving a lot of ingredients I had never heard of. My only complaint about the whole meal was the bread, which was kind of blah. Our server was super nice and helpful, and recommended excellent wines (once again, I wasn’t really paying attention to what anything was called, so I couldn’t tell you what we actually ended up with). For our main course, I dined on scallops, while Eric went really wild and ate duck.
And in the background of our meal? A guitarist who played everything from Norah Jones to Michael Jackson. And he played Hall and Oates’ “You Make My Dreams Come True”, which we just happened to walk down the aisle to after getting married. It was great.
After dinner, we enjoyed a nice stroll around Gratz Park, where we dreamed of being millionaires and having perfectly groomed gardens.
And for any anniversary celebration, there must be cake, right? Right. I made Ina Garten’s Double-Chocolate Layer Cake, which was so incredibly rich that I couldn’t even finish my meager slice.
Eric’s gift has yet to arrive (darn my stinginess that opted for the free shipping), but he gifted me with a double hammock! We’re going to take it in the car with us on our journey across America and (hopefully) set it up in the Grand Tetons! Woo! Clearly, I am really, really excited about this.
Here’s to a very exciting and adventurous third year of marriage!

[…] 2: We were still living in Lexington (just a few weeks away from the big cross-country move), and dined at Rosetta to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, during our brief trip to Lexington a few weeks ago, I saw that Rosetta no longer […]
