We got to spend a few days in Lexington between visiting my parents and wedding festivities, so we tried to squeeze in as much as possible. We both went to college in Lexington and spent our first two years of marriage there, so it’s safe to say we’re a little attached to this sweet town. We made a long list of things we wanted to do and food we wanted to eat while we were in town, and I’m happy to say we crossed a lot of things off our list.
We managed to squeeze in a visit to Joseph Beth Booksellers (our favorite winter date activity) and the Morris Book shop. And of course, a drive down Old Frankfort Pike (Eric made the bold claim that this is his favorite road in America). I cannot get enough of the stone fences. And the horses. It has been months since I’ve seen a horse.
And before you look through all of these photos, I just want to throw out a general disclaimer that we had to pack for 2 1/2 weeks of traveling in one suitcase, so please excuse the fact that you have seen all of these outfits several times in the past couple of weeks. And I only packed one scarf. And apparently I wore it everyday.
And any trip to a former home requires a visit to lots of favorite restaurants. We squeezed in two visits to North Lime Coffee and Donuts for breakfast. This place opened about a month after we moved away, which is probably good because it’s only 3 blocks from our old apartment, and I could see the cinnamon sugar cake donut becoming a dangerous habit. But if you’re in Lexington and you haven’t given this place a try yet, please do. It’s great.
We met some of Eric’s former coworkers for lunch at Bourbon and Toulouse, had a lunch date at Alfalfa’s, and had a few scoops of ice cream with friends at Graeter’s. And some wonderful friends fed us equally wonderful dinners. Even though we got to see a bunch of friends while we were in town, I apparently only felt the need to document two people. My apologies to everyone else.
I’d like to send out a big thank you to everyone who fed us, housed us, rearranged their busy schedules to spend time with us, and generally reminded us how much we love our old Kentucky home. You guys are the best!
