Bear with me, as I’m running a bit behind on all things bloggy.
But last weekend, this handsome fella finished grad school! So you can call him “Master Ringer” and ask him to solve all your business problems.
Eric’s parents and sister came up from San Diego to celebrate with us, so we tried to show them a good ol’ Oregon time. The weather didn’t exactly cooperate for lots of fun outdoor adventures, but we squeezed in what we could.
We gave them the true Eugene experience by taking them to the Saturday Market, which is a big arts and crafts market that runs alongside the farmer’s market (where I bought my first enormous batch of berries for the season). Then we went to Mount Pisgah for a little hike along the river.
We had to go to Portland to drop Laura off at the airport, so we took a detour through Dundee, Oregon to enjoy a little wine country. This probably would have been a bit lovelier in better weather, but Sokol Blosser (weird name, good wine) still impressed us with some delicious wine and beautiful drizzly day views of the vineyards. A 5-flight tasting will cost you $15, which is kind of a bummer, but we were living it up graduation-style, so we splurged. Also, the inside of this place was straight out of a West Elm catalog, which will rock any 20-something-female’s world.
We stopped at the Red Hills Market for lunch. This place was too cute. For any of our Kentucky friends who are still following our little blog, this place reminded me a lot of the Windy Corner Market. Precious, tasty, and full of local goodies. We enjoyed some wood-fired pizza, but everything on the menu looked pretty spectacular.
When we got to Portland, we stopped by the Peninsula Park and Rose Garden, which was in full, delightful bloom.
Thanks to the Ringers for braving the Oregon rain with us and making the long trip up north!
