Now that it’s October (seriously, how did this happen?), we can talk about the snack you should be eating for the next month.
This is the ultimate fall treat. Not because it is pumpkin spice anything. Not because it involves apples. But because it features candy corn. I’m not going to try to trick you into believing there’s anything remotely wholesome about this, since the first 5 ingredients in candy corn are just different names for sugar; but I’ll tell you it tastes good, and sometimes we just give in to the unwholesome nature of Halloween candy.
I’m generally not a fan of candy that doesn’t involve chocolate, because honestly, what’s the point? But this is such a magical combination that I’ll forgive the fact that chocolate is no where to be found.
What we have here are peanuts and candy corn. So look out world, because I am honestly telling you how to pour two ingredients into a bowl. Candy corn + peanuts = recipe! Somehow, these two ingredients together taste exactly like one of those PayDay candy bars we used to get while trick or treating. (For a good laugh, please enjoy this webpage touting the health benefits of eating a PayDay.)
Eating this snack is kind of a fun study of your friends. Are they the type to take equal parts peanut and candy corn? Or do they use 2 pieces of candy corn for every 1 peanut? I don’t know what either says about them, but I’m sure some psychology students could make an interesting experiment with this. I think Eric would volunteer.
As someone who eats each item in a trail mix separately, me telling you to eat two completely different foods together, in one bite, is borderline insanity. But let’s take this walk on the wild side together. You can do it.
- equal parts candy corn and honey roasted peanuts
- Stir together and eat.

I’m a total 2:1 ratio person. Can’t handle too much candy corn! But of course, as you say, this is magical together!
