our european extravaganza.

In hopes of not actually forgetting this entire European excursion, I’m sharing the photos and highlights from our autumn trip to London, France, and Switzerland. Eric had to go to London and France for work (tough stuff, but somebody has to do it), so I tagged along and made a grand little vacation out of it.
London
This was our first visit to London, and pretty much everything we knew going in was from either Harry Potter or The Crown. So here’s Eric on that bridge from Harry Potter:
The weather was pretty “meh” while we were there, so the photos aren’t particularly gorgeous or anything, but I will say that I liked London a lot more than I expected. Not being a big city loving gal, I was surprised how much I enjoyed walking around the city.
And here’s me in front of Buckingham Palace (obviously heavily featured on The Crown):

summer.
There’s no time like mid-October to wrap up the summer, right? I’ve reached the point where I am so far behind on life documentation that I’m afraid I’ll forget everything we did this summer. But it’s kind of nice to stay in solidarity with these seasonal blog posts, yes? (Check out winter and spring, if…
oh, canada.

It already seems like forever ago that we were frolicking around Canada on a post-triathlon vacation. I probably say this after every trip, but I think this was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. After leaving lovely Whistler, we drove and drove and drove to spend the night in Revelstoke. (I’ll let…
ironman 70.3 canada.

Well, we did another half-Ironman (Ironman 70.3 Canada). The race was in Whistler, which is probably the most beautiful setting for a triathlon in all the land. Mountains, lakes, mountains, lakes, mountains. Seriously, Google image search the race and enjoy all the splendor. Whistler was the home to the 2010 Winter Olympics (shout out to…

Well, I did it. I finished graduate school. I’ll spare you a bunch of photos of me in a graduation gown because (1) I’m not very photogenic, and (2) all photos taken of me on this day involved me sweating and squinting into the blazing sunshine. #memories But after the fastest year of my life,…

I’m alive! It has been so embarrassingly long since I have blogged that I had to google “wordpress login” to figure out how to sign into this thing. So, now that it’s late July, I figured I’d play mega catch up and update you on everything that happened this spring (partly for the benefit of…
winter.

It’s been a long winter, folks. You may have noticed that I haven’t hit the ol’ blog since December, which is sad and embarrassing, but also a testament to how insane these past few months have been. Between entering the hardest quarter of grad school so far, going gluten-free for the months of January and…
mcneil point in the snow.
One of the reasons I love Oregon so much is because of how different it looks on any given day. Rain, sun, fog, snow, clouds, hail- they all turn Oregon into something unique. Sometimes when we’re driving through the city on a sunny day after a few days of clouds, the place is almost unrecognizable….
26 books in 2016.

Back in January, I made a few goals for the new year. These goals included learning to bake a mighty fine loaf of bread (there were a lot of failures, but one massive Thanksgiving dinner success in the challah from this book), cooking 100 different meals (which I started recording at the beginning of the…
thanksgiving in bend.
Now that Christmas break is officially here, it’s time to finally share what we did for our annual Thanksgiving trip! If you’ll recall, since moving to Oregon, we haven’t been able to spend Thanksgiving with our families. After a pretty lame first Thanksgiving on our own, waaayyyy back in 2012, we decided we should take…
falls creek falls.
Somehow, it is December, and I’m about to blog about a hike that happened in October. Where, oh where, has the time gone? Let’s throw it way, way back to October, when the sun was still shining, the leaves were still golden (to be fair, the tree right outside our window is holding on strong),…
