our european extravaganza.

In hopes of not actually forgetting this entire European excursion, I’m sharing the photos and highlights from our autumn trip to London, France, and Switzerland. Eric had to go to London and France for work (tough stuff, but somebody has to do it), so I tagged along and made a grand little vacation out of it.
London
This was our first visit to London, and pretty much everything we knew going in was from either Harry Potter or The Crown. So here’s Eric on that bridge from Harry Potter:
The weather was pretty “meh” while we were there, so the photos aren’t particularly gorgeous or anything, but I will say that I liked London a lot more than I expected. Not being a big city loving gal, I was surprised how much I enjoyed walking around the city.
And here’s me in front of Buckingham Palace (obviously heavily featured on The Crown):

Yesterday was a day off for me, which meant it was a day to catch up on all the things I’ve been putting off for days, or even weeks, like laundry, papers, group projects, reading (you’ll notice that most of these are school related…whoops), etc. Luckily, I was super productive in the morning and knocked…
blueberry banana oatmeal amish bread.
Our apartment is an Amish kitchen. Well, not really, seeing as how we use electricity and other modern conveniences such as a stand mixer and a dishwasher. But the amount of Amish bread baked in our home should cancel all of that out. When I first started my Amish bread baking kick a few years…

Wedding season has arrived, my friends. After our journey to Louisiana a few weeks ago, we kept things a little closer to home this weekend and traveled to Columbus, Ohio for Brendan and Becky’s wedding. For those of you who don’t know, Brendan is Eric’s incredibly talented older brother, and Becky is my favorite addition…
wheezyanta.
I told the 4-year-old that I babysit that we were going to Louisiana for the weekend. Her eyes got real big as she exclaimed, “Wheezyanta?!” Kids say the weirdest things. So this past weekend, Eric and I went on a little road trip to Baton Rouge, where we visited with some of my favorite people…
amish friendship bread.

I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve made Amish Friendship Bread over the past two years. If you’ve never had a slice of this wonderful delicacy, you should know that it’s a bread that requires a starter (of which I happen to have a few spares, if anyone is interested) and then several days…
pie in the park.
It’s a rainy morning here in Lexington, with some sudden freakishly strong thunderstorms passing through. Perfect weather for blogging, as long as my computer doesn’t die (which is a strong possibility, as I seem to have forgotten my charger at home, and my battery only lasts about 45 minutes on a good day). I’m currently…

Spring break is over. Sad. But I had a marvelous break, although I crossed very little off my ever-growing to-do list. It’s just wonderful to take a break and enjoy life for a bit. I highly recommend it. As my friend, Becca, said to me today, “Spring break should be a mandatory U.S. holiday.” This…

March Madness has arrived. And with it comes the rise in Eric’s blood pressure. My goodness. Yesterday’s games were a little much, even for me. I’m generally not a huge basketball fan, especially since my favorite UK player (Perry!) graduated last year. But Eric convinced me that I should make a bracket this year, so…
cinnamon-almond monkey bread.
Yesterday was Eric’s birthday! He’s now an old man, and we’ve entered the 20-something days before my birthday where Eric appears to be two years older than me, making me extra youthful. Now, I love birthdays, so I had planned on making Eric’s birthday super exciting right from the start, with a big exclamation of…
peanut butter chocolate chunk granola bars.
By Ally 3 Comments
I’m so excited about this 30 healthy foods plan that I already have a million things to post! I’ve been making homemade granola bars for a few months now. I am a girl constantly in need of snacks (especially on car trips or in class), so I go through a lot of granola bars. The…
