We’ve lived in good ol’ Eugene for about 2 years now, and my parents finally got to come visit us for the first time at the beginning of July. I was so excited to see them, since we only get to see each other about once a year at this point (Oregon and Michigan are…
a few spring happenings.
It’s been a beautiful Spring here in Eugene. We’ve had plenty of showers, which have led to gorgeous blooming flowers and delightful aromas on my morning jogs. And we’ve been blessed with an equal amount of serious sunshine and warmth (it got up to 88 degrees last week!). Unfortunately, we haven’t been out and about…
touring oregon with the ringers: eugene.
We stayed local for our last day with Eric’s parents in Eugene. After a trip to the coast and to the Cascade Mountains, we wanted to show them a little of the actual town where we live. We started with breakfast at Hideaway Bakery, followed by a walk around Hendricks Park (which is far less…
oregon adventures (day 5).
We spent our fifth day of Becca’s visit back in Eugene (knowing that everything would be lame in comparison to our Hood River adventure the day before). We had breakfast at Humble Bagel for the second time (clearly, the marionberry cream cheese was a huge hit) before Becca and I headed to Mount Pisgah for…
another sweet cheeks picnic.
The weather was pretty darn awesome over the weekend. I’m thrilled that the incredible Oregon summer we’ve been hearing about has finally arrived! After a satisfying morning at the farmer’s market (yes, we did buy more berries), we took our enormous heirloom tomato, some bakery bread, pesto, and fresh mozzarella for a picnic at Sweet…
a sweet cheeks picnic.
Eugene has made a gallant return to perfect weather. We celebrated a sunny, 75 degree Saturday with a picnic at Sweet Cheeks Winery with the Bloems. It doesn’t get much better than delicious food, crisp wine, and good friends. Of course, following it up with an ice cream stop at Red Wagon Creamery didn’t hurt….
a perfect oregon day.
The weathermen have been bringing me down lately. They’ve been predicting doom and gloom all week long, and they said that this weekend would be cold and rainy. So I was expecting a weekend of watching television and sipping tea. Luckily, the weathermen were totally wrong. Today was awesome. Perfect. Warm. Sunny. Glorious. We took…
touring oregon with the family (day 3).
Sunday was our last day of fun with the Ringers before they headed back to California. We started the day with a breakfast that is undeniably Oregonian- VooDoo Doughnuts. There’s absolutely nothing healthy about this place, but the crazy sugar combinations are really fun (and tasty!). I’m partial to the chocolate cake donut with chocolate…
wine country.
Saturdays are “Ally days” around here. This means that Eric abandons his homework for 24 hours and we get a full day of dating. On this particular Saturday, we headed to wine country. There are a ton of wineries only 20 minutes from our apartment, so we just picked one that we had heard of…
