It’s time to do some dreaming, folks.
I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I cannot wait until Eric and I have our own home. The sweet freedom that comes without a landlord is calling to me. I’ve been living in rental homes/apartments since my sophomore year of college, and I am certainly ready to have a space that I can make changes to. That being said, it’s going to be quite a while before Eric and I settle into a house of our own.
But we can dream, right?
Earlier this week, we ventured back to Louisville for an evening of Homearama. It’s been a tradition for my mom and I to tour the huge Homearama houses every summer. This time, we took my sister and Eric along with us. If you’ve never heard of Homearama, it’s basically a big home showcase where you get to walk through a bunch of new, beautifully designed homes. For some people, I suppose this is a way of shopping for furnishings and such; but for us, it’s just a chance to admire (or question) some fun decorating in some beautiful, expensive homes.
This year, Homearama was in Norton Commons, which is this adorable little community with gorgeous Seaside-esque houses and cute little parks and stores. I’ve been crazy about this place since they started building it while I was in high school. Eric and I have been there to visit the farmer’s market (they have their own!) and this wonderful gelato place, Gelato Gilberto. If you are ever passing through Louisville or Oldham County, please drive through Norton Commons. It’s too precious to pass up.
After several hours of touring homes, we were pretty hot and exhausted. The cure? Gelato, of course! Delicious. I’ll be searching for gelato recipes to use in our ice cream maker.
So we’ll keep dreaming about our future home. It’s best to dream with a scoop of gelato, right?
