We’re back.
We flew home on Saturday, which turned out to be kind of awesome because we got a free upgrade to first class on our second flight. Do you know why first class is awesome? Because instead of peanuts and pretzels, you get to snack on candy bars, fresh fruit, and sun chips. Not bad, my friends.
My parents picked us up from the airport and took us to our favorite LaGrange BBQ place, Big R’s, where real food tasted so much better than airport food. Thanks, Mom and Dad!
Kentucky is really pulling out all the stops in welcoming us home. The trees are changing colors, it’s warm enough to wear shorts outside, and the sun is shining! It’s as if Kentucky never wants us to leave again! We enjoyed some quality Lexington time on Sunday, heading to Magee’s for breakfast (it tasted so good after a 3-week absence) and then to the Henry Clay Estate to lay on a blanket and read Harry Potter. We’re both re-reading the series, which made for great in-flight reading, but terribly heavy backpacks.
Unfortunately, we had just adjusted to the west coast time change before we left Oregon (it’s 3 hours earlier than eastern time), so we’re suffering a bit in the sleep department. We made the mistake of sleeping in on Sunday morning, which made it impossible to go to sleep at a reasonable hour that night, which made waking up at 6 on Monday morning extra awful.
Still, it’s good to be back to the land of sunshine and changing colors. I love, love, love Kentucky in the fall. Hope you’re enjoying some autumnal weather, as well!
