Three-day weekends are the best thing that ever happened to the work week.
After spending the last thousand weekends (only a slight exaggeration) out of town, we finally stayed in Lexington for 3 entire days! It was incredibly marvelous. It really felt like we were on summer break. We didn’t have to wake up to alarm clocks (although our internal clocks woke us at 6 a.m. anyway…), and we didn’t have a schedule. It was like being on vacation. In other words, it was awesome.
We spent our 3 days of summer eating with friends, finally staining the bed that Eric built last fall (more on that in a later post), and enjoying the easy life. We even had a picnic dinner with our small group at the Henry Clay Estate on Sunday night.
I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to slowly sip a cup of coffee in the morning. And how great it feels to sit outside while the sun goes down. Oh, bring it on, summer. Bring it on.
