I am one quarter of a century old.
Eric hit this milestone last year, and I’ve been dreading it’s arrival for quite some time. I know that in the grand scheme of things, 25 is still very young, but my goodness, it feels so big! Perhaps it’s because I spend most of my time with tiny kids. When asked how old she thought I was, the 3-year-old responded with, “So old.” Ouch.
Fortunately for me, this birthday was the bomb. And yes, this 25-year-old is going to bring back “the bomb.”
First of all, Eugene pulled out all the stops with the weather. This has been one glorious week, with temperatures in the 70’s (what?!), lots of sunshine, and gorgeous skies. That means I got to spend my workday playing outside with my two favorite girlies, getting sand in my shoes and building some serious arm muscle pushing those kids on the swings. The family surprised me with artisan pizza for lunch, cake, and the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers, so I was feeling pretty spoiled.
As if that weren’t enough, Eric and I got to eat my birthday dinner outside! In April! In Oregon! Oh, sweet glory. Eating outside is the greatest thing. We tried Belly Taqueria for the first time, and it did not disappoint. We had a Mexican poutine appetizer, which was essentially heaven covered in fat (french fries covered in pork, a magical cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and avocado). Luckily, calories don’t count on birthdays. We followed those up with some tasty little tacos and sangria, giving this birthday the illusion of a full on summer’s day.
And you can’t have a birthday without dessert, so we walked over to Red Wagon Creamery and indulged in some delicious ice cream cones. Guys, birthdays are the best.
Since we were so close by and the weather was so incredible, we stopped by Skinner’s Butte to take in the view of our little town. And boy, oh boy, did we pick a great evening to see the sights.
Here’s to another year of delicious food and exciting adventures!
