Our last excursion with my parents was a trip to Portland. Eric and I have hit the apartment hunt pretty hard, and we had a few appointments to see some contenders, so we made a day of it.
We’re still not very good Portland tour guides, as we don’t live there yet and still have no clue what to do inside the city. But we visited a few places we’re familiar with.
Our first stop in town was Pittock Mansion. You can pay to tour the mansion, but we took the freebie route and just enjoyed the views from behind the house. On this gorgeous clear day, we had a perfect view of Mt. Hood. (This was far better than our last visit, when clouds dominated the skyline.) And if you look hard enough (through some trees), you can also see Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams!
We stopped by Peninsula Park and Rose Garden, where lots of folks were cooling off in the fountain or lounging in the grass. It looked pretty nice on this very warm day.
I promise we’ll become better at all things Portland in the near future. Until then, any and all suggestions are welcome!
