Hey, Washington!
We live in Portland, which is at the top of Oregon, separated from Washington by only a river (and generally, a lot of traffic). But we constantly forget that Washington is available at our leisure. Last weekend, we finally got around to visiting a Washington park that has been on our list for months: Moulton Falls Park.
We set out early in hopes of having the whole park to ourselves (remember us, the crowd haters?). And we succeeded! We arrived just after 7 am and didn’t encounter another human for at least 3 hours. Perfection. Lots of lovely silence for hiking around waterfalls and taking in the drizzle.
So, the main attraction is this bridge over the Lewis River with an unreal reflection that I could stare at all day. We read that you can swim in the river during the warm months, which sounds amazing considering the crystal clearness of that water. Sign me up (except during our 45 degree visit)!
We hiked around a bit and took a stroll up part of Bells Mountain Trail to an overlook filled with fog. Dreamy, dreamy, dreamy.
I know I’m generally raving about my love for sunshine, but I also really love the moody weather we have here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s so cozy and comforting. And probably explains our coffee obsession.
My dear, drone-loving husband had some fun capturing our morning:
And finally, to really wig you out, here’s a flipped reflection Eric took at the river.
Moulton Falls Park is only about 50 minutes from Portland, and the drive will remind you that there is so much beauty just outside of this city. As a bonus, entrance to the park is free! Huzzah!
Here’s to you, Washington!
