our european extravaganza.

In hopes of not actually forgetting this entire European excursion, I’m sharing the photos and highlights from our autumn trip to London, France, and Switzerland. Eric had to go to London and France for work (tough stuff, but somebody has to do it), so I tagged along and made a grand little vacation out of it.
London
This was our first visit to London, and pretty much everything we knew going in was from either Harry Potter or The Crown. So here’s Eric on that bridge from Harry Potter:
The weather was pretty “meh” while we were there, so the photos aren’t particularly gorgeous or anything, but I will say that I liked London a lot more than I expected. Not being a big city loving gal, I was surprised how much I enjoyed walking around the city.
And here’s me in front of Buckingham Palace (obviously heavily featured on The Crown):

To give everyone an update on our apartment, I’m happy to say that the flooding problem is fixed! A plumber came and installed something (I wish I could be more descriptive, but Eric isn’t here to remind me of the process) that will drain the rain underground, rather than into our apartment. Wonderful. So now…

I can’t believe we’re already on the fifth week of our CSA! I’m afraid that September 21 (the last day of our CSA pick-up) is going to come too soon! This week’s basket was probably the best we’ve gotten so far. I’m super excited that it’s bell pepper season, as bell peppers are one of…
roasted beets with feta.

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. We picked up some beets in our CSA basket last week, and I had no idea what to do with them. In my mind, beets are some disgusting vegetable similar to a potato. I don’t know why I thought this, but aside from my Dwight Schrute quote repertoire, I’ve never had…

Sometimes, you just need chocolate. For me, this is an everyday occurrence. I wish I could stop myself from eating dessert, but I really can’t. I just feel like every meal needs to end with something sweet. So here’s your ‘something sweet’ fix for the month. Or maybe the year. Because that’s how unhealthy it…

One of the great things about living downtown is the number of places to eat within walking distance. We’ve been doing a lot of walking lately, whether it’s to find a place to eat or to just get some exercise and fresh air. And this has resulted in both of us currently sitting on the…
life in the new apartment.
Oh, boy. Where to begin? Life has been a bit hectic in the new apartment. First of all, we’ve gone from a 400-square-foot studio to a 2-bedroom apartment. This probably isn’t a huge deal to most people, but as a slightly OCD neat-freak, this just means I have a lot more to clean! I’ve spent…

We received our fourth basket of fresh from the farm veggies last week. Since we were in the process of moving (and still are), I didn’t take any photos of the full basket, so you’ll just have to imagine these foods for today. Sorry about that. Here’s what we got in our most recent basket:…
a quick update.
It’s been half a month since our last blog post! Goodness, gracious! We’ve been incredibly busy the past few weeks. We just moved into our new downtown apartment on Saturday and have spent most of this week trying to get organized. Everything is still a huge mess, so I’m afraid that photos of the new…

I picked up our third CSA basket last evening, filled with lots of delicious well-known veggies, and a few (hopefully delicious) mysteries. Luckily, Three Springs Farm sends recipe suggestions for the lesser known foods, so I have a few serving ideas. Here’s what we’ll be eating this week: -sugar snap peas -purple and orange carrots…
city living.
Although I’m generally more a fan of the rural lifestyle, I was digging the city living today. This is good because we are about to move even further into downtown. So here are the top five things I like about city living: 1. Starbucks, the bank, and the grocery store are all within walking distance….
